Hey Casting Directors!
I’m your cute, smart, seductive, girl next door but that’s not all…
I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and am a proud US citizen residing in Pasadena, California. I’m known for my multi-award winning sketch comedy show, Vegan 101. I’ve been featured in magazines and blogs such as Creative Screenwriting, Inside Film, Perez Hilton and many more. I’ve also made appearances on the Red Carpet, film festivals, radio and as a guest speaker.
Ferris Bueller, you’re my hero
I’m such a huge fan John Hughes movies and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off made a huge impact on me. Check this out, I actually called my high school principal one time and spoke to his assistant and bailed myself out of high school that day. In my case, I pretended to be my aunt, fake voice and all. Maybe this was my first acting role?
Getting into character
Okay, I confess. When I was a kid, in order to get another day off school, I had to use some acting skills. This meant producing fake vomit by way of a chewed up cookie, to show my mother how ill I was. Can I add prop maker to my list of talents?
I left school at 15 and headed to Los Angeles by 19
I’ve always loved the US, the place where all things are possible. Growing up watching all those awesome American shows and movies, I just knew I had to move LA to pursue my dreams.
I studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angeles
That’s where I learnt that Tennessee Williams wasn’t a country music singer at all.
Is the most fun and best training I ever had as an actor.
I’m also a trained pianist having gotten my start at the South Pasadena Music Center & Conservatory in California.
How I became a multi-award winner
The idea for the first episode of Vegan 101 came about while I was a member of a theater company in Los Angeles. Us girls were asked to write several funny skits for a show we agreed to call Psycho Bitches: Why Men Go Gay. Imagine that on my acting resume!
Seriously, I had no clue where to begin but I was up for the challenge and found the entire process enormously fun and creative. The skit I worked on and performed was called Vegan Set Up and I received great feedback from the audience.
Then I decided to create a sketch comedy series called Vegan 101 and turned my skit in to my very first webisode and renamed it Dating A Vegan. I wrote, produced and performed in it. I sent it to a CEO of a web TV network who gave terrific feedback, encouraged me to create more and offered to distribute it. I self-funded the entire 12 episode series.
I entered the show in to various festivals in LA and started picking up awards. Oscar-nominated actor, Eric Roberts guest-starred in Season 2.
Five years later, Vegan 101 was licensed by Comedy Central on TV in India.
From Web series – TV – Film
After the success of my web series, I began creating and writing scripts for TV and Film.
The original TV pilot script I wrote called, Life of Groupies was an Award Winner/Official Finalist at the 2014 Hollywood Screenplay Contest and 2014 Beverly Hills Screenplay Contest.
I have just finished writing my very first film, a romantic comedy called You Had Me At Aloha.
