I’ve got 3 secrets I learned as an award-winning TV comedy writer, I’m about to share with you that have helped me enormously when writing comedy.
And the best part is, I figured them out by staying open to anything and everything.
- We all know that laughter stimulates the production of endorphins (the brain’s feel-good chemical), so by watching comedies you’re actually setting the tone for writing comedy. Now you have a reason to watch Netflix.
- Look for a funny alternative to a serious situation or conversation. An example is the crazy drivers in L.A. Find the funny in their behavior.
- Write only when you feel it. You’ll recognize those waves of inspiration that will have ideas pouring out of you. Now that’s the time to write.
